2011 Energy Tax Credit $200 for Windows & $500 for Doors

 

Through December 31, 2011, when you replace your windows and doors you may be eligible to claim a Federal tax credit of 10% of the material cost, up to a maximum of $200 for windows and $500 for doors.  Tax credit applies to material costs only and do not installation or labor costs.

 

How To Qualify For Your Tax Credit

  • Purchase select Energy Star certified windows and doors and have them installed before December 31, 2011.

  • Alll ENERGY STAR™ Windows and Doors qualify. Windows must have a U-factor of .32 or lower and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.40 or lower.

How To Claim Your Tax Credit

  • Retain your contract, statement of labor/material cost breakdown, manufacturers certification statement & the NFRC label from each window and door and keep this with your tax records. The NFRC label shows that the window or door you purchased is energy efficient and eligible for a tax credit.

  • Claim the tax credit for the year in which the windows or doors are installed. Consult with a qualified tax advisor to confirm your eligibility.
